I am persuaded
Tonight, I am grateful for the Holy Spirit. He is the gentle, still, small voice that guides me on a clear path, the unequivocal expression of Christ’s benevolence towards me, the embodiment of God’s love for me, the light within that leads me directly to Jesus’ heart and intentions. Without Him, I would struggle to grasp the depth of His love. Yet, with Him, I encounter a light so compelling that it transcends every moment of doubt, quiets my soul in the midst of darkness, and roots me in God’s promises for this life and the one to come.
If you love the beauty of Christ, you will also love the ministry of the Holy Spirit. And tonight, I hope you never lose sight of His presence, His power or the reason He was given. It is true that we wrestle with many flaws in our sojourn on this side of Eden. I have read of Moses’ anger, Sarah’s impatience, David’s adulterous past, Peter’s denial of Jesus, and Thomas’ doubting heart. Yet, there is one weakness I hope you never let into your heart, one lie I pray you never let into your soul: the lie that God is done with you, that the Holy Spirit was given for nothing, or that the song of your redemption has faded away. This is not true.
For every promise God makes to you, your flesh may present a thousand reasons why it won’t happen, and those reasons may seem legitimate. Yet, the Spirit at work in you is one reason to believe that His strength is made perfect in your weakness, and God’s word over you will never fail. So tonight, I am not interested in your many deficiencies; I am more interested in His ability to give power to your mortal body and give life to your bones. Even now, I am more certain that God’s grace still abounds towards you, regardless of where you have been. To Peter, Jesus said, “The devil seeks to destroy you, but I have prayed for you”. And concerning you, the still small voice whispers, “You have a high priest, and He makes intercession for you always”.
This is my prayer for you: that Christ be magnified in your hearts by the power of the Holy Spirit, so that you may see the glory of the cross, where His love and provision for eternal life become undeniably real to you.
